Winterbourne Meditation Retreat with Sarah Presley
Care, compassion and kindness.
On Saturday, 7th May Helen and I went down to Winterbourne for a day run by one of our trainers, Sarah Presley.
It was a day of care, compassion and kindness. We meditated, did mindfulness exercises, and spent the day enjoying the peace that comes from being in the company of like-minded people. There were 12 of us on the retreat and the room was gradually filled with loving kindness for one another.
Sarah created a lovely soothing atmosphere that allowed us to let go of our worries and focus on just being. She had put a lot of work into preparing the day which I am sure was appreciated by all the attendees.
It was a lovely day, so, we were able to sit out for the breaks and at lunchtime and enjoy the sunshine.
The retreat was held in Winterbourne Medieval Barn. The barn is the most amazing building. It was built in 1342 and is a truly significant piece of English history. As well as the Barn itself the venue has had modern facilities added so that a whole range of different activities can be held there. Sarah now teaches the Meditation Teacher Training course there. It has proved to be the perfect venue for our course.
It is so important to take time out from our busy lives and give ourselves the opportunity to spend a day focussing on ourselves and allowing ourselves to be still. We all lead such busy lives and it is easy to get caught up in endless ‘to do’ lists. The meditation day was a real opportunity to stop and just be in a nurturing environment.
Sarah is planning more retreats in the future and I will be looking forward to the next one.
