Ascentis has deep roots in UK education. Originally established in 1975 as OCNW, a co-operative scheme between universities and further education colleges, and the UK's first "Open College." For over 34 years, it grew while staying independent, delivering consistently high standards to learners across the UK and, increasingly, overseas.

Today, Ascentis is distinctive: it's both an Awarding Organisation regulated by Ofqual, and an Access Validating Agency for "Access to Higher Education" programmes, licensed by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education.

Why this matters to you

When the British School of Meditation was founded in 2011, external accreditation was crucial to us. Every certificate we award carries Ofqual recognition, and our accreditation is valid throughout Europe, not just the UK.
