My name is Sarah Presley and I am one of the co-owners of the British School of Meditation. I am also the author of the book: ‘Making Friends with Yourself: A Practical Guide on How Meditation Can Take You From Overwhelm to an Inner Calm.

I discovered meditation in the early 2000s whilst reading a book on Buddhism. I had been diagnosed with M.E. a few years before and I was on a quest to discover the answer to great health and well-being. At first, I was a little unsure as I thought you had to already be a calm and peaceful person to meditate, and I had considered myself instead to be the opposite.

My introduction to meditation was with mantra, and I picked three English words which I wanted to become – happy, healthy and strong. At first, I found it hard, but after a while I found myself looking forward to my daily practice as I became much more focused and calm.

A couple of years later, I was enjoying optimum health - I really felt happy, healthy and strong - and I so I set up a holistic business to I could support others who were going through a tough time in their lives. This has now developed into a full time training business helping to empower individuals with their personal and professional development.

Clients often asked me if I would teach them to meditate, however I was reluctant without an official qualification. The British School of Meditation fitted the bill with it’s external accreditation and face-to-face training. I enjoyed the whole experience and found the training to be both professional and supportive. The course content had all the components for supporting me to be a meditation teacher but also how to incorporate it into a business setting too, in fact I felt it helped me to set down great foundations to go out and teach straight away. After qualifying, with distinction, I have worked in schools, businesses, but most importantly within my local community running regular beginners, intermediate and advanced courses as well as providing weekly meditation videos.

In 2014 I was thrilled to be invited by the British School of Meditation to be a Meditation Teacher Trainer and ever since I have been providing in-person courses in Bristol, as well as online too. It is such an honour and privilege to witness students utilise what they have learnt on the course and bring life changing skills to other people’s lives

I am also a Reiki Master teacher and a Kundalini Yoga teacher. I start every day with a 1 hour practice which I call “my daily devotion”. My meditation practice is a combination of breath work, mantra and chanting, however I also ensure I bring metta, gratitude and mindfulness into regular moments throughout the day too.

I am very much looking forward to providing the training and support to help you to take the next steps to becoming an accredited Meditation Teacher, either in-person in Bristol, or online so you can be within the comforts of your own home
